Michael's Biography:

I was born in Corvallis, Oregon in 1969. I have one older brother and one younger sister. Up to age seven, we lived in various locations throughout Oregon. My parents divorced when I was seven. Shortly thereafter, my mother remarried and we moved to a small coal-mining town in eastern Montana. Over the years, we relocated to southeastern Nebraska, then to two small farm towns in Washington. I graduated with honors from Tonasket High School in 1987.
After high school and a knee injury that disqualified me from serving in the armed forces, I worked at a camp outside of Colorado Springs for two years. I then attended Bible school at Last Days Ministries in Texas and subsequently became a member of their staff. I served there for three years as a plumber and water utilities operator. I also took part in many evangelistic and humanitarian relief outreaches throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Eastern Europe. Many foreign students attended Bible school at Last Days Ministries, and I could eventually claim friendships with people from 47 different countries on all six inhabited continents. I also met my wife, Sharron at Last Days Ministries. We met in October of 1991 over a game of Cribbage and were married on April 10, 1993 in Santa Rosa, California.
Since we have been married, Sharon and I have served together at a recreational camp for the handicapped, pioneered a Salvation Army youth center, and spent nearly six years on staff at a full time foster care ranch in southern Oregon.
We currently reside in LOacey, Washington and serve on the worship team of Crossroads Community Covenant Church in Yelm. We have a ten year old son, Micah Daniel, who has become the joy of our lives and has taught us more than we thought we had left to learn !
I wrote my first poem at age nine, having been quite impressed by a Nebraska thunderstorm. I experimented infrequently with poetry over the years, then attended a "young writer's conference' for three consecutive years at Eastern Washington University while I was in high school. I have continued to write over the years, gradually becoming more adept and fluent; particularly in the past two years. I currently have three published books (Sacred Journeys, ISBN# 0-595-26347-X , Modern Musings, ISBN# 1-59286-935-1 and an allegorical fiction novel, "The Great Deep") as well as several single publications in magazines and anthologies. Some of my personal hobbies include astronomy, geology, archery, and edible / medicinal wild plants. I also play several brass instruments and bass guitar. I am now beginning to write children's books which I hope to one day publish. I have recently co-authored a book, "God's Healing Wild Herbs", which is due to be released early summer of 2010.
